Is this absolutely necessary?

Hey y’all my boyfriend and I plan moving soon but we don’t know exactly when. It could be the end of August (when our lease is up) or could be the end of the year. My boyfriend said the leasing company has already contacted him asking if we plan to renew the lease and he told them yes just so we don’t have any issues if we end up having to stay longer. I told him that we need to give a 30 day notice and he’s saying that he doesn’t think we should have to

You have to give a 30 day notice and let them know your not renewing the lease if you intend to be moved by that day. Talk to them because they may allow a month to month lease if you dont find a new place by the time your lesse is up. Month to month leases are more expensive. But you have to tell them you dont intend on renewing it and give them 30 days notice that your actually going to leave. Otherwise they wont have a potential resident to move in, also that gives them time to get whatever ckeaning people or painting peeps etc. A heads up to be ready to rehad a apatrment for a new tenant

If you already signed your new lease then y’all are going to have to pay to get out of it. Where I am, that’s 2 months rent and you lose your deposit, so about $7k   Asking to sign the renewal in July for a lease that’s up in August isn’t early at all
