Which house

We have to move end of the month. We were set to get this house, application approved and all, but then we went to see another house this evening and now we're torn. We're going into this understanding that it's not permanent, we are renting until we find a house to buy.

House Number One Pros:

~Closer to my husband's work

~Huge. Really really big house. I haven't been in a house that big since my childhood home

~Decent size garden for the dogs

~Separated front and back garden, plus enclosed courtyard

~Enclosed area

~There's a river/ greenbelt directly behind it (nice and quiet, close to nature)

~Similarly designed to the house we're living in now

House Number One Cons:

~It's expensive. Substantially more than what we're paying now

~There's a river/ greenbelt directly behind it (safety concern, worried the cats will go out and never come back)

~House has been neglected a bit so there's a bit of work that needs to be done (not something we'd pay for, but it would just be an inconvenience)

~Perhaps too big

~The surrounding area isn't great (it's on the border of an area that's got a bit of crime)

~My husband will struggle to get through traffic to go to work even though it's close (he has to cross a highway bridge)

~Far away from family

House Number Two Pros:

~It's the same price as what we're paying now

~Close to my family, really close

~It's currently undergoing renovations so it will be in good condition

~The main bedroom has a door leading out to the garden

~Not in an enclosed area but seems pretty secure

~Only two rooms, but both rooms are huge and both have ensuite bathrooms, plus a separate guest toilet

~Much closer to shops and restaurants

~Not via an agent, the landlord seems chill

~It has an existing CCTV and intercom system

House Number Two Cons:

~It's a smaller property so there isn't much garden (we have several pets but the dogs are mostly senior). The garden is about a quarter of the size we have now. I think my sister who is in a complex has a bigger garden.

~There's only one garage, we currently have two.

~It's only two houses away from a main, busy road

~It's further away from my husband work (in the opposite direction of traffic)

~The landlord lives next door

~The layout doesn't really give us the opportunity to create safe exit zones for the cats (just as a precaution)

~The garden is really small, I know I've listed it twice. I'd have to think how to separate it so the cats have a small dog free area. There is an outdoor courtyard area but it's also of "wrap around"
