Is this normal?

So I’m FTM, and my baby is newly 2 months. Whenever we go somewhere as a family I still sit in the back seat with him while dad drives. We have a mirror and everything so it’s not like we couldn’t see him from up front, but I get SO anxious. I like being in the back with him so I can play with him and watch him when he sleeps and make sure he’s not too hot or cold. Im sure it’s fine for now, but when should I stop doing that? Why am I so anxious that he’s just going to stop breathing or something if im not watching him constantly? Even at night I get up every 5-10 minutes or so to touch him and make sure his chest is still moving.. 🫣

I was the same way. Honestly my husband and I sat in the backseat for a little over two years 🫣😂
They are only so little for a while. We drove across the country one of us in the back seat with the babe the whole time. As long as you are happy and comfortable it’s all good. I still check him for breathing occasionally. But the worry is a lot less now.

I was incredibly anxious about all of that until about four or five months. Why don’t you get an alarm for night so you can be reassured and get some rest. I have one that you can set a temperature alarm too so that if it’s too hot or cold in the middle of the night it will alert me. You need to rest or the anxiety will get worse. Trust me!

My baby is 8 months and I still sit in the back with her or dad does if I’m driving. When each of us are on our own with her she does fine alone and I’m sure if we both sat in front she’d be fine. But I guess it just became normal for us to have one of us in the back with her. I think we still have a bit of that new parent anxiety.. I don’t think it will ever go away 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

I got a car camera to help with my anxiety. It’s so nice because I can see her during the day or at night.

I was the same way for several months. My daughter is about to turn 10 months and it wasn't until she was maybe 4 or 5 months that I was okay with one of us not sitting in the back with her, and only on rough rough days where she's been clingy do I feel the need to check on her throughout the night.
The anxiety gets better, just talk it through with your partner so they can understand what your going through and maybe even help. (:

My kid was 3.5 and I was still riding in the back to sit by him. Then we had a second and now I sit by her in the back with them both. I haven’t sat in the front passenger seat for almost five years now. It feels normal and fine to me.
The breathing check frequency gradually decreased for me. But I still check breathing occasionally on my big kid. It’s just more comfortable to know.

I still sit in the back with my daughter if my husbands there too. She’s 21 months. I don’t really feel it’s needed now, but we usually aren’t all in the car together anyway unless we are making a few hour car ride to visit family. I sit in the back anyway still tho, I don’t mind. I don’t see what the point of me sitting in the front seat anyway is lol idk why it matters where I sit

No, that seems overly anxious. I didn't sit in the back with any of my 4 kids at all. But if it makes you feels better I don't see why you couldn't continue.
