Why lie?

I think my bf has been lying about his lifestyle. He invited me to his house for the first time my kids were in the living room watching tv he told me come sit with him in his room. Walks up the steps come to find out his room is not a room, his room is more like a storage space no door no nothing. You can look down and see the living room. Come to find out it’s his mom’s place I put two and two together. He supposedly drives a Tesla, he says that the Tesla was in a accident long story short the car has been in the shop for about 3 weeks. I don’t think it’s his car I think I’m he rented it. He is always showing off on Facebook. Foreign cars, jewelry, designer clothes etc. But in person he just like me normal as can be. I’m not the type of female to go for money or glam but why did you lie. And here I was thinking I don’t fit into his life because I don’t wear red bottoms or Louis vutton however you spell it and I would rather wear coach or micheal kors. I have my own place, Malibu, normal 9-5 that I am happy with. I’m not even mad at him but I don’t understand why he lied. Like just be you most ppl would respect and accept the real you. Sometimes it don’t matter how much money you have if your mental health and common sense is not aligned properly then that money don’t mean nothing.
