HOA??? Help

What would y’all do if you lived in a HOA subdivision and they weren’t keeping the common areas maintained? We pay a good amount of money for HOA and when you turn into our subdivision there are weeds and grass growing over our neighborhood sign. The entire front looks horrible. I’m not trying to be difficult, but they are soooooo strict on all of us and our yards, but the common area looks a mess ! When I called and asked they kind of just brushed me off.
