Hook effect?

Has anyone experienced what they call the hook effect? Where you have too much hog and so the test turns out negative. I got two pretty positive tests yesterday and today they are negative.

Yea I had gotten a hook effect once. I thought I was losing my mind. 
Around the time I had a car accident so at that point I didn’t know I was pregnant yet but they detected blood in my urine.. I’m presuming implantation? Literally next day a huge lot of blood came out and I thought oh here comes AF…. I  also felt like I got hit by a bus. Was so hot and felt really flu-ish…. Anyway that lot of blood stopped and I thought to grab a test next day and it was positive. A strong positive… I Was testing over the next few days but also doing blood work at hospital to keep an eye on levels because when I saw it was positive and all that blood I was freaking out… Eventually the urine tests were completely negative. Not a second line to be seen….. but my blood work every three days was going up sooooo much the doctor laughed and was like “oh my god I’m seeing numbers… I can’t keep up” anyway turns out I had triplets… I hyper ovulate so I’m often pregnant with multiples I just have never been able to carry more than one successfully as I have a bucornuate uterus. The Hooke effect is very much a. Real thing! I still trip out when I think about it

A true hook effect is pretty rare. It can turn a pregnancy test completely negative if HCG is like 500,000, but that often only happens in molar pregnancies. You might notice the test line get a little lighter when HCG is much higher around 7/8 weeks, but it won’t go completely negative. If you just got your first positive tests very recently and now they’re negative, a few things could be happening- 1) it could be a chemical, 2) your urine might be more dilute now, 3) yesterday’s tests were faulty, 4) today’s tests are faulty, 5) you’re using different tests that detect different amounts of HCG.
