When is Considered full term to deliver?

It’s my first baby and I was wondering what exactly is considered full term to have your baby or to be able to be induced and your baby not be considered preemie or an early baby?

Typically 37w0d-38w6d is early term, 39w0d-40w6d is term, and 41w+ is post term.

ACOG says full term is 39wks. 37wks is early term.

In my area, inductions are set on 41+ weeks, if the only reason is being overdue, because basically induction because you "want to" is usually unnessesary and lead to more complications. Medically nessesary inductions are also done earlier. But in US as far as I know, the clincs that offer elective inductions, they set it 39+ weeks, not earlier.

My hospital says 39 weeks. They have strict policies and unless absolutely necessary will not induce before that.

In my area they wont stop your labor 36 weeks on if you go naturally and baby is ok. Inductions dont typically happen until 39 weeks or later unless medically necessary

37 weeks is considered full term where I am and it’s possible to have an induction around that time if it’s medically necessary. That’s what happened to my son.
