Almost 7 mo old face planting on crib mattress!

My dd is almost 7 mo old and for the last few days she keeps rolling to her tummy at night and then putting her face straight down onto the crib mattress and staying that way. No turning her head or rolling back, just face down flat on the mattress. It freaks me out so I keep going in and rolling her back which then keeps waking her up where she needs to be soothed back to sleep and I feel like I will never sleep again because I’m so worried she is going to suffocate! She has good head control and can lift her head just fine during tummy time but my worry is she is so sleepy when she is doing this. Also even tho she lifts her head just fine on tummy time she keeps forgetting how to roll back to her back. But in the day she will cry if she can’t figure it out. At night it doesn’t even look like she cares to even try! Anyone have experience with this or any suggestions? Please tell me someone’s baby did this and is now a healthy toddler or older!!
