No surge?

This was my first time tracking ovulation as we are trying for baby number 2, I was told to test twice everyday after my period ended since I had absolutely no clue when I ovulate. I just started my period today and after looking back through my charts I never had a positive ovulation test. I had a semi dark test around 7 days after my period but it never turned position and immediately went back to almost blanks… can anyone tell me why this happens? Or if something is wrong?
