Is it normal for 5 week old to constantly want to be held?

My husband thinks I’m holding our baby too much and that I should let him cry it out more. I’m breastfeeding too so of course he’s always attached to me. Ugh.

It’s normal for children to want to be constantly held until they’re 3 basically. It’s biologically normal. Your husband is ignorant. You cannot spoil a literal newborn.

I’ve learned you can never hold a baby too much as they just want to be near you as that is where they feel the safest. The baby is not spoiled and not being held too much. Of course the baby will have a bond with you that you are creating by holding the baby, the father can also create the same bond by skin to skin and holding the baby.
My first child is a little girl who had a bond with me like no other, she still does, but she’s now a daddy’s girl and that’s okay. 
My second child is a little girl that’s only 8 months old and loves her dad but is such a mommy’s girl but my husband is building a bond with her, one day I won’t be surprised if she becomes a daddy’s girl because of their bond he helped create. 
You keep holding and loving that baby momma, don’t let anyone tell you that you are holding that baby too much or loving on that baby too much that is your pride and joy!

Not possible to hold too much.  It’s a biological need and cultures all over the world do baby wearing for this very reason.  Daddy needs to do a little reading

Totally normal! There is no such thing as holding a 5 week old too much, and you cannot spoil a newborn or set up “bad habits” at that age. Enjoy those snuggles as much as you can because they go by so quickly!!

You cant spoil a newborn or hold them to much, you also cant leave him to cry, or he learns that no one cares about him and hes unloved and unwanted. You cant leave a newborn or an infant to cry. Thats neglect

That's COMPLETELY normal. Babies don't start to become capable of self-soothing until at least 4-6 months. You're all the comfort they need at this point ❤
