Change my tone. Depending on the context I stay positive in my words. If it gets too much I make an excuse to hang up.
Professionally I usually stick to the initial the original question they had and ignor the rest of the hostility.

With CS I usually kind of give them short answers or if they’re persistent on the rudeness I hang up and call back hoping not to get them again.
If family/friends I just hang up. I don’t need that kind of negativity in my life.
