Flat head syndrome

Question

My LO is 3 months and has developed a flat head. Our next check up is next month so I want to see if I can change his head shape back to how he was as a newborn. Fo those pillows with a hole in the middle work? What about those side pillows?? Advice please!!!

I wouldn’t use any pillow unless you are going to supervise your baby why they are laying on it as it can be dangerous. More tummy time or side laying, and sitting up can help round out the head. If that doesn’t work depending on how flat the head is they may have to wear a helmet.

Maybe try using a wrap and carry babe most the day. When I worked in a daycare, the babies that had flatter heads we tried to hold and have more tummy time. Plus they normally just sleep wrapped up on your chest and have both hands to still get stuff done.

My son had torticollis and had hard time turning his head left.. we had appointment to see physio therapist for it.. she said they don't really recommend the pillows, and the best help is (if the case is mild enough still) tons of tummy time as long at the time as your little one tolerates.. we started with a minute or so when he was younger,and now he does 20-30mins a go) to strengthen the neck and using toys etc to try to get him to turn his head to left as much and as often as possible.. little by little we started to notice the difference. he still has a mild flat spot, but it has gotten a LOT better already.

Pillows don't work. Get a scan at Cranial Technologies for free. My daughter had a helmet through them and it fixed her head.

I'd suggest seeing a head shape clinic and get a helmet on baby asap. It's expensive but worth it.

Just focus on more tummy time and watching that babe sleeps with head turned both ways.

I would just focus on more tummy time.  Even playing/laying on your chest counts.
