Does the hospital provide nipple shields?

If you ended up using nipple shields to breastfeed, how did get them? FTM here, just wondering if I should buy these ahead of time or if lactation will provide them to me in the hospital.

Mine did. But it's highly recommend to try to only use nipple shields if absolutely needed.
If you know you need them for other reasons like inverted nipples or something, I would bring your own in the correct size, or look into the nipple suction thing.

I didn’t have a lactation consultant in my hospital so I private hired one when I got home and she brought them for me but that meant I went a couple days without being able to latch my baby at all & needing to use bottles. For future babies I’ll be bringing my own with me just in case

Mine didn't, but I was home for days before I needed them. I had a visit with my second and they provided me with a size they meant would fit better.
So my guess is, they'll provide you with one.

Mine didn’t even mention one when my first wouldn’t latch. I discovered them on my own once I was home.
