Not sure what to do

So I’ve been single for about five years since my divorce. I was on a dating site about a year or so ago and match with this guy Alex. We seem to hit it off and our showing my best friend his profile. She then told me that she’s actually been on some dates with him and really liked him but he ended it with her. They were never physical. So I asked her if she was OK with me seeing him and she said she would rather me not. So I didn’t.

Flash forward to today. I met this great guy in the store who was with his daughter. We chatted for a while and he mentioned that I looked familiar but he couldn’t put his finger on it. We instantly connected. We exchanged numbers and went on our way. I ended up looking him up just to realize it was that guy from last year!!! He looked a bit different from what I remember he looked like.

So now I’m not sure what to do. My friend has since moved on and dated this other guy. But they’re about to break up. Do I tell her that I met this guy and it happens to be the guy from the dating site and ask her if she’s OK with it. Or do I go on a date with him and see if we even have something between us. And then either tell her after or just pretend I didn’t know?

I’m leaning towards not even telling her and just ending it with him. I don’t like drama. But then the other part of me wonders if this guy could be potentially somebody in my future. I know some of y’all probably gonna get pretty snarky. But just remember, I haven’t actually done anything yet lol I’m on here for advice
