How was it growing up in a family of five or having 3 children?

So I'm oldest of 6 - my husband the oldest of 5. 
We both have agreed we want 3 children. 
I have a 6 year old daughter, 2.5 year old son and I'm currently pregnant with #3 daughter (due in September)!

What kind of childhoods your kids will have depends a whole lot more to do with how you handle/raise them than it will with how many you have. 
A good parent to 2 kids will be a good parent to 5 kids. 
(I’m also oldest of 3, and the only girl. We were/are very very lucky. We grew up in a loving, stable home.)

I am the oldest of 3. I think opinions will vary based on parenting styles. I didn’t enjoy growing up being the oldest of 3. I always wish my parents had stopped after the second. I think it was more of their parenting style and the youngest’s personality than the actual number of siblings. It was mostly my mom that did this. It seemed like the expectations lowered with each child. I was always held to a higher standard. I was always made to do more. I always had to be more responsible (even as a toddler). I could do no right in my house. I could fight with my middle sibling all day long and it was fine. Neither of us got in trouble. If we touched the youngest, we got in trouble every single time whether she started it or not. It was not because of an age gap either. There is 13 months between me and the middle. There is 2 years and 10 months between me and the youngest. Me and my middle sibling were absolute best friends growing up! We never told on each other. We were almost always together. Even when we started dating. I actually picked out their spouse. 
I think as long as you do things fairly, any amount of children will be fine. If you do things like my mom, you will always have one on the outside. And it wasn’t all my mom. Like I said above, some of it was personality. We still don’t get along with the youngest in our 30’s.
