Which IUD do/did you have and do you like it?

I'm still trying to decide which one to get and would love to hear some experiences. Good or bad.

i got the copper one. i didn’t have it very long, maybe 5 months. made me cramp worse during period but other than that it did what it was meant to.

I've used both Mirena and Kyleena. Mirena was horrible straight 3 months bleeding after placement and I always had terrible lower back pain... Heavy periods for like 2 years then for the last 3 years no period so that was about the only good thing... I was always in constant uterine pain so they'd have to keep rechecking it to see if it had migrated, ugh... Was a pain but I kept it in for the 5 years... Kyleena I used for 2 years and was much lesser bleeding on periods and no painful cramping or anything. That was my experience with those 2. Oh I should note, upon Mirena removal to TTC I ended up miscarrying at 6 weeks, not sure if related to IUD 🤷🏻‍♀️ Kyleena I conceived 4 months post removal and carried twins to term!

I have the copper IUD and love it. The first few months with the increased bleeding and cramping were rough but worth it. It pretty much went back to my normal periods after 9-12 months (except for one day where I bleed like a river but I’ll take it). I’ve had it 3 years.

I'm still post partum from baby number two. No period yet, I've had it for 6 months. It didn't hurt me at all to be put in, mild cramping for a week.
I am waiting to see what it will be like when I get my periods.

I have Kyleena. Insertion was a uncomfortable. Some spotting afterwards and on and off for about 6 months. Haven't had a period since! I have had mine for 3 years and LOVE it!

I have the mirena and I love it. I’ve had mine since July of 2020. The first six months or so were a little rough. For the first two months, my periods were super irregular. I probably bled more days than I didn’t. And then I spotted pretty frequently after that. But after the first six months, it’s been great. My periods are extremely light now (before, my periods were so bad I’d bleed through a tampon in 30 minutes and I cramped so bad I’d throw up). Zero cramps and periods so light I could get by with just using a panty liner. I also usually only get my period every month and a half and it only lasts around 5 days now. I’ve had zero side effects, other than some minor acne that over the counter cream has taken care of.
