Am I confused ?

Every time my mom is on the phone my boyfriend talks to her but I haven’t seen her in almost 3 years last week she wanted to meet for breakfast and he made an excuse as to why he couldn’t come and then this week my nieces first birthday came up and an excuse as to not to go. I just spent four days with his mom just this week .Why is it not okay to meet my mom , I understand I haven’t seen her in a while but why can’t he treat it just as serious as his mom . Has anyone else felt this way
