Weaning off the dummy...

Noona • 🇱🇧💍👶🏻👶🏻🇬🇧

My son is now 2 years old and we have decided to finally wean him off his dummy during nights and naps. He's not had it during the day for almost a year now. We're on night 2 and it's been rough! I got him to throw his dummy in the bin himself after I cut it and it was no longer "good". He said bye bye to it and walked away. Didn't even look back. He asked about it at bedtime and we reminded him that it's in the bin and he started crying for it. He settled but every time he awakens at night he cries for it. How long will it take him to adjust? I feel like such a monster taking away something from him that brings him so much comfort. 🥺 Any tips to help him get through this?
