Should I inform my child’s school?

Hi all. We lost my brother inlaw yesterday. My son has school tomorrow(Monday). Should I inform the school about the passing of our loved one? For reference: my son is 4years old so he hasn’t fully grabbed the concept of death so he does not understand what happened and he seems fine. 
Has anyone experienced this before?

Maybe. I would say if there are behavior changes. Like he might not be aware, but he’s going to be aware that y’all are sad. For my son, his behavior is not so great when things are off at home. That’s when I would mention it. On the other hand, there’s no reason not to share. The point is, if you don’t want to, I don’t think it’s necessary.

Yea, reach out to his teacher and let them know, just in case the topic comes up or they notice any concerning behaviors.

I think you should inform the school/his teacher because they can keep an extra eye on him and let you know if they notice any change in his behaviour.
I’ve always kept my kids school informed on big changes in their lives.

I would only because the school my child attends had sent out an email at the beginning of the year to notify them of any big changes like a death in the family. So even though he might not exactly understand, I think it's helpful they know incase he does present any different behaviors there compared to at home.
