I personally have seen people still go well past 40 weeks though baby dropped around this time, so I don't know if it's the best predictor of labor.

I’m on my 3rd baby in 24 months. I dropped almost a week ago. I’ve had painful cramps but they stop. And My pelvis is so achy. I was only 1cm dilated and 25% effaced when I went to my appt 2 days ago. So I guess it’s not true for everyone that in subsequent pregnancies only drop when in labor.

I’m 36 weeks & 2 days pregnant. Been dilated at a 1cm since Wednesday but doctor even said baby has dropped & so has everyone else I know. I’ve been having irregular contractions & cramping.
I got an appointment on Wednesday so we shall she where we are at then.

I’m 34 weeks 2 days with baby #2. I’m 1-2 cm dilated and my baby girl has dropped also. I don’t think I’ll go into labor anytime soon but I’m not underestimating mother nature’s timing 🤣 anything can happen dropped or not.
