Breastfeeding and period

I had my little girl 16 months ago and finally had my first period. I’m still breastfeeding and I know that this will impact my period in general. But I thought because it’s been 16 months and she doesn’t feed as much as she used to, they would return and be fairly regular. I’m 4 days late and there is no sign of it returning. What experience do any of you have of this? I guess there was a part of me that was hoping I may be pregnant but I took a test and it’s negative. I thought now my little girl is well into toddlerhood my periods would be back and more regular 😫
