Bassinet

My best friend is two weeks exactly behind me in her pregnancy (literally to the day!). I asked her what bassinet she was getting because i couldn’t decide what I wanted to get since there’s so many out there(trying to decide if i wanted a bedside one or just a normal one) and she said they weren’t going to do a bassinet in their room and put him in his room right away because she didn’t want him being dependent on sleeping in their room. She also doesn’t want a carrier because she doesn’t want him being dependent on being held all the time. Is this actually a thing? I was always told you couldn’t spoil a newborn. I don’t want our room to be the only place our little girl wants to sleep. I planned on doing her naps in her crib to get used to her mattress but we felt more comfortable having her in a bassinet in our room for the first couple of months.
