Is it harder to get pregnant after being on birth control for a long time?

I have been on birth control for 4 years now on and off. Im worried that I wont be able to get pregnant. Is it true that its harder to conceive after being on birth control so long?

With my first pregnancy I was on bc for about 5 years, stopped and was pregnant 3 months later. Went back on bc for about 2 yrs and now we are ttc again. Now this time it's been 6 months with no luck yet. Though I was on a stronger bc the second time around so maybe that has something to do with it?

Let’s look, for example, at how long it takes for women to get pregnant when they quit the Pill compared to when they quit non-hormonal fertility awareness methods (FAM, sometimes called natural family planning). A big study of over 2,000 women who quit the Pill after using it for an average of seven years found that 21% were pregnant in one month and 79% were pregnant in a year. Women who stopped using FAM had very similar rates of pregnancy, with 20-25% pregnant in one month and 80% pregnant in a year. In other words, women who quit the Pill get pregnant just as fast as other women, even if they’ve used the Pill for years.

I was told by my doctor that you are more fertile after getting off the pill. It was true for me I am not 13 and a half weeks and I was on the pill for 14 years

Nope I was on the pill for 4 years and we were trying to conceive for 4 months and just got our BFP ?

I thought so, until I went off the pill and got pregnant our first try! Within 2 weeks!

It depends on the person but it can be harder to fall pregnant after being on the pill for a long time, considering that you have been on and off it probably won't take long

I asked my doctor because I've been on the pill for over ten years and my husband still wants to wait another couple of years. She told me what Gunce posted, most women get pregnant within the year after they stop. My sister-in-law stopped takin her pills and fell pregnant in two months and she had been on te pill for something like 7 or 8 years.
