Does anyone know?

So i want to get a tattoo from an artist that i follow on Instagram but i don't live near him at all, and i don't want to use his work without permission... Is it offensive if i were to ask him could i use his work but someone else tattoo it? Of course i would pay if necessary seeing it's his art but how exactly would i go on about asking? 
Sorry if it's a dumb question but it's my first tattoo.

I know most artists don’t like to do another artists work, there’s no harm in asking but they might not want to. I guess if you paid him to draw up a tattoo for you no harm, but most of the time another artist won’t want to just copy someone else’s work. Tattooing is their artwork, they don’t wanna just copy someone else. If I find something I like I send it to my artist as an idea of what I want but he always draws me up something based on it. I think it would be rude to ask your artist to copy someone else’s work

It’s rude to ask another artist to use a different artists work. Tattooing is their own expression of art. You can show your new artist what you like and they can draw up their own version.

Honestly I would show the artist you want to tattoo you the work you found and like and see if they can create something on there own. Then your not using the other artist work at all just showing what you love about it and having them do something of there own. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

You can reach out and ask, but don’t be surprised if he says no. Also, make sure to ask BOTH artists (the one whose art you’ll be using and the one tattooing you) before you pay anything. Honestly, you definitely shouldn’t ask for at that the artist has already done. Ask for them to draw something up for you, and pay for that.
