I had my first appointment (dating scan) on 9/28 & had blood drawn and a urinalysis done. Its been over 2 weeks and I was billed a while ago but hadnt heard anything about the results, so today I called my ob-gyn to follow up, assuming no news would mean good news. I tried calling multiple times between 12pm and 1pm and couldn't get through to anyone, so I left a voice mail at 1 requesting a call back to confirm there's nothing I should be concerned about. At 4:30pm the office finally called me back and casually said my blood work is good but my urine tested positive for a UTI (I don't have symptoms other than occasionally cloudy urine, which I had assumed was just hormones). Urinalysis results usually come back quickly (sometimes results come back same day!). I am just appalled that no one bothered to call me for 15 days and I had to call them to find out about it. Were they just going to let it go untreated for a month until my next appointment? I feel like they don't care about my health or the health of my baby at this point. The front desk said she was sending an antibiotic prescription to the pharmacy today, right away, but since it was 4:30 & I had to be at work at 5, there was no way I was getting my prescription picked up today. I already started the process of switching to a new ob-gyn, and I think I'll leave a negative review to warn other women, but I'm wondering if this is something I should report them to the medical board for. It likely hasnt caused any real issues yet but just seems incredibly negligent and careless. What would you do?
