When do kids stop crying to go to bed?

My 25 month old cries every time she gets laid down for bed. How long will this last?

Every kid is different. I generally held my kids to sleep (or at least until drowsy) so bedtime would be about comfort and not sadness. But, I realize that isn't going to work for every kid or every parent. I have 4 kids. I had one that was fine not being held at age 2, and one at age 3 but my other two (both boys) were still being snuggled at 4 years old, and even occasionally at 5.

Well you have to ask yourself first why does she cries? Is she too tired or not tired enough? Is this a  new thing ( couple of weeks, months) or it has always been like this? With my son, he started having fears around 2 years. He hured noises in his bedroom and didn't knew  it was, he thought that the garbage car is coming into his room . Talk about magical thinking 😂😂.  Maybe ask her and she will tell you in her way.

It depends on the kid. My eldest didn't until he was 3.5. But he slept with me until 3, then got moved to his own bed where I'd lay with him, then I had to start leaving when he was awake after I had my third son. He was a little over 3.5 when he would go to bed without crying. Almost 5 when he was eager to go to bed. 
My 4 y/o son never cried about going to bed. Ironically he's got severe sleep issues because he is autistic and it takes him hours to fall asleep. But he's never been upset/cried about going to bed. 
My 2 y/o son was always good about going to bed. Slept through the night since 4 months. Was always able to be put down drowsy but awake. He did have a brief period of crying at bedtime not long after he got moved to his toddler bed at 22 months. But it passed quickly. He did start experiencing frequent wake-ups at that period as well. He never did that before. And it hasn't stopped yet. He gets up crying 3-4 times a night but literally just wants me to put in back in bed, tuck him in, and turn his glow worm back on so it's just a minute or so of crying.
