Zyrtec twice a day?

I know online says your not suppose to but my allergies are literally killing me. Has anyone on here taken is day and night?

Zyrtec crosses the blood brain barrier and presumably the placental barrier more than any of the other second generation antihistamines. It is safer than Benadryl though overall with fewer side effects for the baby. You should be fine to take it twice daily if you really need to, but general medical advice is as low a dose as tolerable for symptom control. Or you could try Allegra which is even safer and does not cross the placental barrier. I'd avoid use if possible as you get closer to delivery because antihistamines interfere with prolatic release and therefore milk production.

I take Xyzal (over the counter medication) one tablet at night. 
A lot of the over the counter medications don’t work for my allergies but Xyzal is a different beast. I love it and I don’t get weird dreams like I do on Zyrtec or Benadryl.

You could do Claritin in the morning and Zyrtec at night instead.

I’m currently doing 2 tablets twice daily.  Been doing this regimen (per doctor’s instructions) for a couple years.
