when did you transfer your kid to a big (off the floor) bed?

So I was wondering when others are transferring to a big - off the floor - bed.
My kid was in a single floor bed from 14 months to now 2,5 yo. 
He appears to develop a preference for off the floor, so just regular beds really. (my stepsons sleep in regular beds)
Tonight I have allowed him to sleep in one of his brother's bed and though he's fallen out twice, and slept on the little cushion on the floor for a while.. he seems to be enjoying his sleep...

My oldest sons crib turned into an off the floor toddler bed and we started that at 14 months old for him. He loved it and never once fell out. He’s almost 4 now and he sleeps on a floor toddler bed until we get bunk beds In a few months, but when we travel he sleeps in his own queen bed and does just fine.

Our oldest moved into a twin bed on a normal metal frame about 22ish months.

I have 4 kids and have never did a floor bed. 2 out of a crib straight into a twin bed with a frame.
