What do people mean when they say literally everything changes when you have kids?

Your body changes, your feelings changes, your priorities changes, your relationship changes, your everyday life changes, your sleep changes, your freetime changes, your work probably changes, your family dynamics changes, your home changes, your friendship changes.....
Your body is obviously changing. It's growing a child and your body and your hormones will forever be different from it. And lots of the things I mentioned changes because your baby will be first priority in everything you do for the rest of your life. The baby's needs is first. And you might lose friends because of it, and gain others who knows what it's like to have a baby be your priority. Your everyday life changes because again, baby is first priority. Everything will be about baby's sleep and eating and if you have a sensitive child but you're outgoing yourself you might have to stay home a lot more. Or if you have an outgoing child but you're sensitive you might have to do more than you feel you have capacity to do. Because again, baby is your priority. Your child is first in so many ways.

Well for me it completely changed my life.
I used to work 12 hours days as a grocery store department head. My world revolved around that place and I was barely home. I took on extra projects in the store that didn't give me any more money it was just ourely out of boredom and a sense of duty.
As soon as my son was born in June I knew I couldn't go back to that. So I quit after maternity leave and am currently enjoying being home with him until he turns 1. 
Also my husband just commented today about how many special moments and belly laughs we would have missed out on if we didn't have him. It's so true. He has made our lives so much happier and more fulfilling.
The days are long...but the years are short.

You love someone so incredibly much that you change and what used to be you time is now theirs. You can’t imagine life without them and why you used to prioritize silly things, your whole world has a new meaning, this dependent adorable little human needs you and you keep the child alive and healthy through all of your efforts. Your heart is full of joy and love and it is the best thing in the world.

It’s no longer just about you and what you want. Your eating schedule changes, your priorities change, you’re more concerned about keeping a set schedule and routine so that your kid has familiarity, you have to consider your child when you do things like travel or move, even trips to the grocery store change (it takes longer when a toddler wants to walk around the store with you than just zipping in and out), every stage comes with different challenges and you have to adapt with them all…. It literally seeps into every aspect of your life. It’s really awesome and cool but also difficult and tiring. But like being a parent is hands down the coolest thing I’ve ever done.

It’s a really big shift, like the center of your world shifts to the baby instead of you. Your life and priorities revolve around their needs first. It can be difficult in things like sleep and a social life, but it is also a really beautiful thing to have someone that loves you and needs you so intensely. You think of them first when shopping, they are the first one you care for in the morning, and the last one you care for before going to bed. It’s a lot, but it’s also the best thing I’ve ever done.
