Did the start of labor feel like period cramps

Question

I’m 40+3 and feel a constant low dull period cramping type pain but not belly tightening or Braxton hicks. 
I’ve been having signs of labor for the last 2 weeks I’m really frustrated things aren’t progressing as fast as I would like. 
I’m feeling this cramping and getting excited but I don’t feel contractions, just a constant period type ache. I hope I got into labor today 😭

That's how my labor started. It felt like period cramps, and as the hours went by I noticed they seemed to be coming and going so I started timing them and they were slowly getting closer together. It wasn't until almost 6 hours after the cramping first started that I was sure they were contractions and it was time to go to the hospital. Good luck, I hope this is it for you! ❤

I felt like that for a week, particularly in my back. Then one day started with non painful cramping or tightening in my stomach and later that day painful contractions started. I labored at home for just over 24 hours and then went to the hospital and had my baby the next afternoon.

When I got that very first contraction it felt like the cramps you get when you’re about to have a serious diarrhea episode (TMI I know I’m sorry)  but that was my immediate thought it woke me up so fast and I went straight to the bathroom but then I realized I didn’t even have to go. I went back to bed and it happened again and I would notice the tightening from back to front/vice versa…and that’s when I knew labor was happening that day!

Yeah. When I woke up around 4am that day my first thought was “ugh, I’m getting my period”. Then I woke up at little more and realized it was probably labor starting, lol. They felt like ever increasing period cramps the rest of the day, eventually turned up to 11 (and beyond).

And it feels a little different for each person, so don't let anyone tell you you're not in labor because it was different for them. 
For example, my mom insisted I wasn't in labor since I only felt the pain in my lower abdomen, whereas she felt it from back to front. Got to the hospital, and sure enough, they were real contractions.
