Relationship trouble help

Hey ladies sooo I’m having trouble with a guy!! Sooo me and this dude been hanging out for a while now an we’ve made out 2 days in a row. But I found out his ex reached out to him telling crap basically about a dream or wtv and now he’s confused and he said he wants to be friends with me because he doesn’t want to lose me and so idk what to do!?? Like I wanna be more than just friends with him but that girl still in the picture

I just don’t wanna lose what we had and I’m so confused :( someone please give me advice
