Smelling during postpartum

I wanted to check in to see if this is normal….

I am currently 6 weeks postpartum and my period started two days ago. I tried using a tampon today but it was very uncomfortable. When I took it out there was a horrible odor! Never have I smelled that from my girly parts. I have no symptoms of a yeast infection so I wasn’t sure if it was normal after postpartum? My OB appointment is in 3 days so I will be sure to discuss it then, but wanted to see if anyone else had something like this
