Is it abuse?

My boyfriend and I got into a fight Saturday night and he pulled me off the couch by my leg and I got back up and sat on the couch again than he got on top of me and pushed me down by my shoulders like he was trying to choke me. After all that and we both calmed down he apologized and said he’s never hit a women and never would but honestly that’s seems pretty much like hitting to me. Any physical aggression like that is. He said he wasn’t really gonna choke me and he just did it to scare me.
