Husband wants to give sick toddler cough med

My daughter has a cold. It started yesterday with a light cough. My husband immediately told me I need to give her cough medicine. I don’t think cough medicine is a good idea as I’ve seen many doctors and parents telling stories of kids who’ve had terrible side effects to cough medicine. There are a TON of natural remedies that I will be using but since I have work the next two days I’m scared he’ll go to his moms and they’ll both agree on giving our child medicine. I’m not opposed to medicine but as of right now, she’s not uncomfortable nor does she have any kind of fever or anything. I’d rather the cold pass through her rather than suppressing it and prolonging it with medication but he looks at me like I’m one of “those” moms who don’t believe in medicine. Far from it. Just don’t think that cough medicine specifically is safe for a 2yo with a simple cold.

@Kat I know I’m not. Like I said I’m not opposed to medicine. But cough syrup has been known to cause more harm than good in toddlers esp toddlers that are not uncomfortable or have a severe cough. There are a ton of natural remedies that can help but she doesn’t need cough syrup.
