For example, if you get two paid holidays for Christmas and two paid holidays for New Years, that’s a total of 4 days off

I only get paid for Christmas Day because it fell on a day I normally work. I’m working New Years Day. I get Time in Lieu for working holidays.

I didn’t respond to the poll because I wasn’t sure how to answer. My husband and all other employees at his job are on winter layoff from December 23–January 9 with base pay. From there they can choose to go back to work January 10 or remain on layoff until February 20. If they remain laid off until February it’s unpaid.

0. I’m a health care worker. I can take them off with out issue because our clinic is closed, but I have to use my PTO if I want to be paid. If I don’t have PTO, it’s unpaid.

My last job (unemployed currently) always gave us the week between Christmas and new years off. Plus any weekends surrounding. So like if the 24th was a Monday, we’d have the sun and sat before off. And if the 1st was a Friday we’d also have that immediate weekend off. It was nice!! All weekdays were paid at regular rate for 8 hours a day. And if you decided to work (100% volunteer basis) then you got paid double time for all hours worked.

None. I’m required to work holidays unless they fall on my normal days off. If they fall on my normal days off then I will get 8 hrs of pay. I can not request holidays off & if I call out on holidays I get penalized.

My husband is a truck driver so if he wants time off it's not paid. Lol With that said he's been home since the 20th & hopefully going back to work for the week today. He'd be back on Friday, off for the weekend & back at it after new years. Luckily the holidays landed on weekends this year

We have a unique situation. We live and work on a ranch. The property owner is a lot of things, including our boss and our best friend. That said he got the 23rd-26th off. Not paid, but we get the same monthly allowance and we got our yearly Christmas bonus. That said he will be working New Years Eve. 6 pm to 2 am. We host kink parties. He'll be able to come back over here at midnight to bring in the new year with us (granted the kids will be asleep well before then.) But we also get extra pay for party nights. $100 base plus tips. Party nights bring in quite a bit of $$$. So paid days off aren't really necessary. Just because our monthly always stays the same. Doesn't matter how many days are actually worked or not. Pay doesn't change for us.
