Pressure and epidurals
So, with my first son, I got my epidural when I was at 9cm (there were a lot of women having babies that night) I asked not long after I was at 6. But it took awhile for them to get to me.
I felt absolutely nothing but the urge to push once I was given it.
With my second son, however, I told them I wanted the epidural asap so I got it around 6cm. It was Christmas. It was working fine. But every time I had a contraction I felt like I really needed to pee even though I had a catheter. But as soon as I got to the point I had to push, 9cm, the epidural wore off. I felt EVERYTHING. I kept pressing the button for more, and it wasn’t working. I asked if they could give me more of it, and they said they could but it’s just pressure.
NO IT WAS NOT.
But I was in so much pain, I couldn’t even talk.
I felt like I was pushing a spiky bowling ball out my rectum. It got to the “ring of fire” part and I felt my scars from my first born, tear back open.
It hurt so bad.
I was crying and the ob had the nerve to tell me to not do that and groan like I was (It embarrassed me and I didn’t mean to it just really freaking hurt- I’m a quiet person, and don’t like making a bunch of noise, so I feel really stupid) then try to tell me how to breathe. Then tell me to get mad and push. I was just doing what I felt my body needed me to do otherwise I would have screamed and said some not so nice things to anyone who looked at me wrong. Then they had me basically play tug of war with a towel and nurse when I pushed.
But as soon as my baby was out, he was all I could focus on.
Im still confused on the whole epidural thing.
