Will hard book covers stop mouse from getting under the door

I have a phobia of rodents from growing up with them I’m literally sobbing while typing this. My sister saw a mouse in our shared garage in our apartment because that’s where our blue garbage bins are stored and I’m terrified it’s gonna come threw the door because our door has many gaps so I put hard book cover all around it and a towel to stop it. Our apartment is very small so it doesn’t have many options and the mouse could decide to come in our place but we keep it pretty clean
