Have anyone ever taken 2 types of antibiotics for a UTI at the same time?

I am pregnant at the moment. My midwife prescribed me an antibiotic for a UTI before knowing I actually had one. She called me a few days after I’ve started it & prescribed me another one & wants me to take them together. I want to know if anyone has done this before, especially while pregnant.

Yes. The first didn’t completely rid of it. I was pregnant as well.

That's pretty normal. They want to start treating it while waiting for the culture results. Sometimes a different antibiotic is required.

I had 2 different antibiotics prescribed when I was breastfeeding and the pharmacist wouldnonly give me 1. Did they do a susceptibility test on the bacteria? You shouldnonly need to take 1 - whichever antibiotic the bacteria is susceptibe too. Usually macrobid (nitrofuratoin) is prescribed when pregnant.
