Previous inductions?

Question

Have any of you ladies had an induction previously? My doctor kept bringing up an induction so I finally agreed to set it for 39 weeks and 4 days in hopes that my body will be ready to go by itself by that time anyways. This is my second baby, but I was not induced with my first and I’m panicking a bit not knowing what to expect. Any experiences you’d like to share?? Thanks in advance!

I wasn't induced for my 1st. I had him at 40 weeks 5 days. Never had Braxton Hicks and didn't have contractions until that night and they were not painful but when they got to 2-3 minutes I figured we needed to go in since they say to go in when your 5-7 minutes apart... I was just expecting them to be painful. I was admitted and got the epidural basically right away. That was like 5 am and he was born around noon. They broke my water and 15 minutes later I started feeling discomfort and asked if I could push the button for medicine so I did that several times your allowed to press it like every few minutes but it wasn't helping. So they checked me and they said oh it's cause you are a 10 and ready to push. So my epidural did wear off and I felt EVERYTHING. I was screaming and shaking and crying with my eyes clenched shut while delivering him so idk if I should have waited to get the epidural or not but it was so relaxing and great except for when he was actually being delivered which only took like 15 minutes even though it felt like hours. So not too bad altogether.
My 2nd I was induced. It was easier to plan ahead so that my mil could take off to watch my 1st. Started the induction process at 7 am just pitocin didn't have any of the dilating stuff done. I got put on the back burner because other mom's were coming in having their babies. So was on pitocin all day not really progressing. Around 6pm the Dr broke my water. It was excruciating. She was yelling at me telling me to relax, put my butt down, stop clenching but would stop probing me to let me relax it was just so painful and awful. Then I got the epidural and again I looked at my husband and said utt oh in starting to regain feeling and feel contractions again, I told the nurse and she check and sure enough I was dilated to 10 and it was time to push. Once my water is broken I progress really quickly like within 20 minutes of it breaking each time I go from like 4cm to 10cm. This time the epidural worked wonderfully enough where I felt the contractions just enough to know how to push and it only took 2 pushes and 5 minutes she was out! Before the last push her head was stuck half way until my next contraction and that was a bit painful but didn't last long. So that would have been an amazing experience if it weren't for the horrible experience with my water being broken. I also didn't think the contractions were painful on pitocin like most women say and I was on it for at least 12 hours before I got the epidural.
I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow and I'll set up my induction date then but it'll still be set for a couple days past 40 weeks if I make it that far. It's easier to know the dates for childcare for my other two. I will be requesting that I receive the epidural before they try to break my water to avoid that experience again. But I'll probably hold out as long as possible so my epidural doesn't wear off or whatever, I know they say it doesn't wear off or fail but my body definitely responds differently and does wear off because all of my friends said they felt absolutely nothing and didnt even know how to push. So hopefully this time it'll be the perfect experience lol

I’ve been induced with my to oldest. I can’t imagine going past 37 weeks pregnant. The induction we’re for medical reasons so please don’t jump down my throat about keep the baby in ti￼ll 40 weeks. 
 My son who is 12 in March was induced for pre-eclampsia and low amino fluid high blood pressure. ￼ Worst labor of my life he and I both had issues with our stats dropping due the end of labor. Thankfully I was able to power through. No pain medications .  He had a lot of birth trauma on his head during to having an indewlling HR monitor on his head and I’v placed in his head before even being born . 
My daughter started coming at the end of 7 months.  No Dr would listen to me something was wrong and could not answer why I was already contracting. At 32 weeks I was placed in the hospital in bed rest after they found my AF was 2cm after she peed. I was still contracting with no dilation.  Check on by MFM every day. 
32 w and 4 days  they used cervadil to help me dilate since my body dose not seem to dilate. It’s good awful. I had two rounds of the medication and steroid shots.  At 33w and 6 days I gave in and got and epidural so I could rest. Since I had been in labor for a month. The next afternoon I woke up to blood everywhere in my bed felt below. My daughters head was out between my legs. She was still in the sack . Dr and nurses rushed in to the room had her cut out of the sack and fully delivered  within 5 minutes of me waking up from my hour nap. 
She was in NICU for a week due to being septic from a small leak that they were not able to detect with there test. She is currently 7 yrs old  healthy as can be . 
Therefore when it come to induction I am all for it if it’s for a medical reason. You really need to make sure you way your pros and cons for not keeping the baby in Longer and inducing. Is there more of a risk if you keep the baby in the baby out early. ￼
Unfortunately for me each time there was more risk staying pregnant then have the baby early. 
Both children of mine have very healthy and are doing well above grade level in school . Also play competitive soccer.. 
only ￼ medical issues both have been diagnosed with￼ ADHD it runs in the family.

I don’t have induction experience, but if you’re not comfortable with it, they cannot force you to be induced. If your doctor hasn’t given you a legitimate medical reason, you have every right to decline and let baby come when it’s ready.

That's annoying that they're pushing induction... I get it once you're overdue but our bodies are supposed to go into labour, just give it a chance.
To answer your question tho, I was induced with my first at 41+2. My water had already broken so they gave me pitocin. The contractions were SO painful and came one after the other. I got the epidural which was a life saver. Was in labour for 8 hours. For this one I'm gonna try all the tricks to go naturally.

I think doctors offer it cause of moms being tired and In pain but also it makes it a schedule. I don’t think it should be pressured just as an option. Usually they wait to offer until 40 weeks though from my experience. I’ve had three inductions at 40 weeks. The process went well for me it does take longer though. I always had to go in at night get started on a pill to soften and open my cervix then start pitocin. Usually had baby the next day by afternoon. Highly suggest getting epidural with it always though. The pitocin they use to induce labor makes for the most horrible contractions I have ever felt. 
I’ve had one baby come on his own and that experience was so much better. I didn’t need the epidural and could move around freely during labor. This time around (yes my 5th baby) I’m determined to wait for spontaneous labor! Either way you choose just make sure you are doing what feels right for you!

Why are you being pushed towards an early induction? My doctor brought it up but I said no, she will come when she's ready and it was never brought up again.
