Disciplining a 9 month old?!?!

I swear my mom gives crappy advice! My 9 month old will cry and fall out out of frustration(taking something etc). My moms advice……
“Oh you need to stop her now. When she does that you need to say NO turn put her down and walk away”. 😑 Like what?! My daughter is a BABY!

Meh, all moms will give each other advice and tell you how things should be done. Just take it with a grain of salt and raise your child how you want. Boom. Easy solution.

Don’t listen to her🙄 gosh I can’t stand the unwanted “advice” parents give followed by “I raises you and you turned out fine.” It’s been one thing after the other with my mom concerning my 3 month old so I know how you feel. The latest was her insisting that my daughter can nap on her stomach now that she can turn her head during tummy time. Apparently the people who research infant safety don’t know more than she does because she’s raised four children. I don’t even know if I feel comfortable leaving my daughter with her now.

Do what you want but I'm assuming that's exactly what she did with you and I'm assuming she turned out fine. I've read different parenting things that talk about the importance of self-soothing with babies the no part I never heard of but I've definitely heard of just letting them cry from time to time if they're full and clean.  I always heard my grandmother say that picking a baby up every time they cry is giving them a very bad habit because they will keep doing it just so that you pick them up and if you ever need anyone to watch the baby or put them in a day nursery you will be making their job so much harder and the experience extremely stressful for the baby because the other people will not pick up the baby every time it cries and because that's what they're used to, they wouldn't possibly be able to understand why it isn't being systematically done. I also saw a parenting video years ago about 50s, 70s, and 70s methods where parents had nannies depending on which method they chose.  The experiment was for exactly 3 months where they did it from the time they brought the baby home.  And I can tell you, the 50s method was really extreme. They virtually never held the baby at all.
