Fix a car or buy a new one

Please just answer the question this is all new to me, and before being rude just know life happens.

I have a 2012 hyundai veloster that i had since 2018.. i never had a car note the vehicle is paid off..I bought it from the auction. Im debating whether to buy a car and pay car note (don’t have the best credit) or just spend 3000 to fix this one and not pay a carnote… idk what is worth it because i feel like the $300 or $500 I’ll be paying monthly on top of insurance can be saved…. I have a 10month old but I’m sure if i can get it fixed it may be better.. but i do want a new car lol the one i have is old. What would you do? Have you been through this? Or should i save and buy a newer model cash?
