BC Option: NuvaRing

Gunce • Head of research at Glow. Unwilling infertility expert. 2 kids after 6 IVF treatments.

The NuvaRing is a small ring you self insert into your vagina once a month for three weeks to prevent pregnancy.  You need to get a prescription to get the ring. It then costs $15 to $80 a month. The NuvaRing does not protect against STDs. You insert the ring into your vagina for 3 weeks at a time. Then you remove it for one week.

Glow's plan: In future updates, Glow hopes to ask if you are on the NuvaRing. If so, it will set up notifications to alert you when it is time to remove your ring and insert a new one. Glow also hopes provide NuvaRing specific insights and also track potential side-effects of the NuvaRing: vaginal infections and irritation, vaginal secretion, headache, weight gain, and nausea.

The NuvaRing is a very effective form of birth control if used properly. Please let us know of your experiences with it. Would you recommend it to others? Why or why not?
