I'm pregnant & fired?

Expecting! But I'm starting a new job in April but I'm not cover under the FMLA act! (Not employed for over a year) What will happen? Am I going to be able to take a few weeks off work? Or just when I'm in labor? Can they not give me any hours when I come back?

They can't fire you for being pregnant or for taking time off to have a baby. If they do, call the EEOC--Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. And you can contact me. I got fired for having a baby from a Fortune 500 company, and we actually won our case (only about 2% do)! My advice is to get EVERYTHING documented in writing: when they expect you back, how time off will be applied, what will happen when you return, etc. Get all of that WELL in advance in writing with a witness.

I believe ur work has to let u off bc u cant come back to work until doc releases u! But they dont have to hold ur position they can move u ( i think) w disability u want get that check till several weeks after uve been out of work mine wasn't even a 1/4th of my normal income!! I wouldn't tell them till u were further along! But most employment is pretty fair about this

If you are in the US, you may be able to use your short-term disability insurance. Check with your new provider to see if you are eligible for benefits, as some policies require you conceive prior to starting the policy.
