Geritol Experiment! Who's in? (Long post)
Hello mommy-to-be's!
My husband and I have been TTC on and off for about 2.5 years now and now that we have tied the knot we are super trying! I'm talkin' bbt, ovulation sticks, prenatals, etc. This is our first cycle being so diligent in our efforts and I'm excited to be at it again but dreading AF.
Any who! My mother and aunts have sworn by Geritol for YEARS. Claiming "there's a baby in every bottle" and I pretty much refused to believe it. However, in my boredom today I researched it and discovered that there are thousands of success stories out there!
For those of you that are unfamiliar with it, geritol is pretty much a super vitamin. The bottle claims it has "every vitamin and mineral established as essential in human nutrition" I have yet to purchase, gonna pick it up today from Target. But here is a photo of the package from Amazon.

Now, I've read a mix of stories that appear to work online. It appears most ppl experience success by starting on CD1 and continuing to take 1 pill per day until they get a BFP. However, there are plenty of stories of ppl who have started a week before O and still conceived. These aren't just people that are TTC and in their 1st cycle, but what's really convincing me that it works is that most of the stories are from ppl that have been TTC for longer periods of time (2-4 years).
Now, I know ppl may be skeptical so I did more research and discovered these big take aways:
1. It's a multivitamin so it's safe for your body. If anything, at least you'll be getting more vitamins.
2. It comes in liquid (tonic) form and pill form. Although I hear the tonic form is gross.
3. It's only one pill a day!
4. It's cheap. 2 packs are going for $15.88 on Amazon with free shipping.
5. After you get your BFP, stop taking and resume prenatals.
The reason I believe it works is because it's high in Iron. And a study published in 2006 by Harvard School of Public Health states: There is evidence, though, that iron supplements do increase a woman's ability to conceive....that women who consumed iron supplements had a significantly lowered risk of ovulatory infertility than those same women who did not use iron supplements. According to Dr. Lawrence Jay Rappaport, iron supplements such as Geritol improve the character of a woman's cervical mucus and thus improve the chances of conception.
Whew! Longest post EVER!
Alright- so here is my plan.
1. Gonna pick up and begin taking today CD 8.
2. Going to continue to take my prenatals.
3. Keep my fingers crossed and post results when AF is due (Aug 19)
If you would like to join me in my endeavors, all I ask is that you...
1. Post here whether you are taking the pill or liquid form.
2. Post where you purchase from and price (for ppl wondering where they can buy and for how much)
3. Post when in your cycle you will begin taking it.
4. Post how long you've been TTC
5. Update with results!
Now, I should also add that once you get your BFP, you have to name your child after me :) hahaha joking!
Whether you decide to join or not, best of luck ladies! And I will be updating soon!
