No... Do not do this!!! When you use a tampon, especially for extended periods of time, you are putting yourself at risk for toxic shock syndrome. That's serious!

As long as you're still changing it regularly, overnight shouldn't be bad. If you sleep for more than 8 hours, maybe switch to pads, but otherwise you should be just fine. I usually only do tampons for the first couple nights, then switch to liners after that.

I always wake up a few times a night to pee anyways so when I'm on period I change the tampon. Its perfectly fine, just don't keep it in there for to long.
