Should it be easier for felons, people with criminal backgrounds to get a job?

Yes and no, depends on why they have a felony and what they have done to prove they have reformed.  If they have taken classes, done community service, etc and are clearly making strides to be a better person, I think they should be given more opportunities.  If they haven't done anything to prove they are a better person then I don't think they deserve a better chance.

I think it depends on the job they are applying for and the crime they committed. For example. Someone who has a petty marijuana charge applying for a retail position should be given a chance but someone who murdered applying for a job with children shouldn't be able to have that job.

Yes! My boyfriend stupidly stole something when he was young and now can barely get a job even though he's had manager experience, sales. Etc. he beats himself up all day about what he did and knows he did wrong:/ sucks because he has great potential and doesn't even get a chance

The way I see it, I would rather them have a job than have to rely on government assistance. People can change and you don't always know the whole truth surrounding the crime either. Of course I do think there should be some restrictions depending on the crime they are guilty of because of course I don't really agree with a sex offender working in a place children will be at.

Absolutely. 50% of the prison population is currently incarcerated for nonviolent drug offenses. These people should not have their lives ruined because of simple possession or even dealing (which the poor sometimes turn to in order to earn enough money to live, thanks to poverty wages). The purpose of America's deplorable, inhumane prisons is to punish for life rather than rehabilitating. If the other 50% (particularly for other nonviolent offenses like larceny) manages to get through prison and five years' strict probation without reoffending, and displays an earnest drive to reintegrate into society, they should have that chance. It's easy to discount prisoners as trash until you are one, or know one.

I hit no but I meant yes... Stupid fat fingers lol. I say yes because I feel like if they did the time for their crime or if it was a minor thing and they are fully committed to staying OUT of jail from here on out, why not give them a  job?
