Myomectomy/IVF question??

Hello Ladies, I just found out that I have to schedule Myomectomy surgery ASAP. They found a giant fibroid sitting inside my uterus. I just turned 42 & trying for our first. My fertility Dr. advised to start IVF prior to the surgery?? I know I'm older but she told me all my blood work ok, egg reserve is fine. Do you think IVF a little premature? Total cost is $15k & of course, insurance doesn't help. Thanks for the advice :))

Had my surgery yesterday..they were able to go in with Davinci robot but ended up having to do a mini-lap because they were too big to get out.
​1st day recovery is no fun! The gas pains are the worst. They removed 5 fibroids..smallest was golf ball, largest grapefruit. Counting down to the 8 week mark when we can ttc!

Prior to conceiving my daughter at 41, I had a myomectomy. Fibroid grew during pregnancy with my son and, it would have grown larger with a second pregnancu as it feeds off pregnancy hormones.  Didnt want or need that drama so we snipped that sucker out and doing so did not interfere with conception and birth of my daughter,  nor did any of them grow back.

Scheduled surgery today for next month! Scared & nervous..I had my gallbladder removed several years ago but you kind of forget the pain. My largest fibroid size of orange & my uterus hugely enlarged. Hoping for the best! Said we could ttc 8 weeks after

That's why I'm confused! she said they want to take out the viable eggs & have them ready to go for when I heal but you're right, risky.

That confuses me because the hormones can either make the fibroid grow and occasionally can make them shrink. Until the fibroid is out I don't understand why she would suggest IVF. UNLESS they are just looking at the harvesting of the eggs first and then do the surgery then heal then implant..... But to me that's risky with potential for fibrous to grow on that massive amount of hormones

She said no way to get pregnant with giant fibroid & wants to start IVF before the surgery.
