Do tampons make period last longer?

Ive noticed after I started using tamping my periods were longer. My cycle used to be only five days but now it can be seven to eight?. Maybe the tampon doesn't allow the flow to do it's natural thing so it's taking it longer? Idk, that's my thought.

It shouldn't make your period longer. When I first got mine it was very heavy for a full week. Over time mine got shorter and not as heavy. I have the first two days slightly heavy, a light day, it stops for a day, come back for half a day or so, and then extremely light for for another day. So light I don't have to wear anything. Really, the only one who could give you any real advice would be your OB.

Your period will fluctuate through out life and other factors will influence it. Exercise tend to result in a smaller or lighter period. There are also other things that affect it like stress and birth control. I used to have extremely heavy periods (7 to 8 days) until I had my son now they are light and roughly 4 to 5 days.

YES. The chemicals in tampons- particularly dioxane is illegal in almost all other countries of the world but here in the US women are putting it INSIDE their bodies on the regular. My periods used to be painful and long (8-9 days) and heavy. I used to only use tampons. Now I use cloth and a Lunette cup- both chemical free- and my periods are completely cramp free, 5 days and very light. The day I use a tampon (like if I'm going dwimming) the heavy period returns as with a throbbing vagina and cramps. Do some research on the matter. It is definitely true and I wish more suffering women knew about this!!

Dude, i know this is off topic but I when we moved into our first home, I missed a period and I was FREAKING OUT! I wasn't ready for a child, I was still in college and me and my boyfriend wanted to get married but he had not even proposed yet! (Mind you that this was two years ago, my we are happily married now for a year!) so we were light FLIPPING OUT! anyway, come to find out, I failed four pregnancy tests and  my period picked right back up the next month! I guess it was because we moved, even though it wasn't stressful, I guess I did have some sort of stress because it was going to be my first time not living at one with my mom. My point is, a lot of things can affect your period! When I line up cycles with my friends, I bleed heavier! And obviously when I move, I skip months! So just think if what all is going on in your life even. It doesn't seem stressful and I from there (: goo luck!
