Cloth Diapering anyone?

Question

This is me and my husbands first child and have been thinking about going the cloth diaper route to save money in the long run. Am I crazy? We both work, and the only people I know who do it are stay at home moms. There are some really nice new styles of cloth diapers and they have really changed from the old pin-on kind.

​Anyone else out there going to/have tried/ or are doing cloth diapering? Opinions?

​I'm afraid I'll add too much more work on top of having a baby for the first time.

We are cloth diapering with our baby boy as soon as he out grows the newborn size of disposables. From what I have researched, the cost of washing them is very small compared to the cost of disposables, plus you can make your own wash solution for next to no money and it's less harsh on the diapers and your child's little bits.

​You can also make your own cloth wipes that you wash right along with the diapers. Drying your diapers in the sun makes things less expensive and the sun naturally whitens them to help prevent any staining.

​Overall, we believe it is the best route for our child.

It doesn't change your bills any as you can wash cloth in the load with your other like clothes. I love cloth diapering and they are no harder than disposables and there are a lot of sites where you can learn everything you need to know. I say buy a few and try it and if you like it go from there. Personally I wouldn't have it any other way.

I cloth diaper and have purchased more for our second child. We use Bumgenius 4.0 pockets because we can stuff them with a variety of inserts (charcoal bamboo, microfiber, hemp) depending on how long the diaper will be worn. They have snaps so you can adjust the size for virtually any size child.

We're not pregnant yet, but hoping to go the cloth diaper route. I don't like the thought of so much waste, plus we have diaper goblin dogs, haha.

I did it with my 2 children and will do it if we're blessed with more children. It's much better for the Babys - expecially if you'll got a boy... You'll have to wash loundry nearly daily because your baby will pucke and there is no way to let the dirty clothes .... If you just want 1 child than the costs are nearly the same. If you can use it for more than one child - it'll be MUCH cheaper!
