Spotting or period?!

Help! I have had a super long cycle and started spotting yesterday (along with yeast infection symptoms). Today I've had similar spotting. So, when does "spotting" become a period? I don't want to log incorrectly and mess up my chart! Anyone know what's considered spotting and what's considered a period?!
